"People aren't buying the lie."

Is there a sign of hope in the response to the awful news from Minneapolis?

And now for the new year...

We all knew this would be a crazy year, but 2026 has already outdone itself. We’re not even 2 weeks into the year, and we’ve had an illegal invasion, an apparently innocent observer killed by ICE, a few Senate Republicans starting to peel away from blind obedience, and a bunch of important court rulings. Whew. I’m exhausted already.

But we’re just at the beginning of a long, crucial year. Each of us needs to ask ourselves two questions:

1.        What am I going to do to help protect (and restore) democracy this year?

2.        What am I going to do to stay sane this year?

Here at Friends Here & Now we’re wrestling with those same two questions. We’d love to hear your answers to those questions. And we’d appreciate any suggestions you have on how we can help. Email us at foshereandnow@gmail.com and let us know. We might share your ideas (anonymously)!
